Omaha Police identify man killed, officer involved in fatal shooting

A man was killed in an officer-involved shooting Wednesday morning as Omaha Police were serving an arrest warrant.

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha Police have released some new details on an officer-involved shooting that left one man dead.

OPD confirmed Thursday that 37-year-old Cameron Ford was shot at an Omaha residence near 78th and Redick Avenue around 7 a.m. Wednesday morning. Officer Adam Vail was the one who discharged his firearm, OPD said. Ford was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died shortly thereafter.

According to OPD, a SWAT team entered the house to serve warrants and encountered Ford, finding a firearm and a “large quantity” of drugs inside the residence.

It’s still unclear what led to the shooting. Omaha Police plan to hold a news conference Tuesday at 11 a.m.
