6 First Alert Weather Day: Record-breaking heat possible Saturday
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Following an extraordinarily warm and record-breaking dry September, the first weekend of October may also be one for the record books. Highs are expected to reach into the mid 90s this Saturday, reaching close to 60+ year old records. This is why we have made Saturday a 6 First Alert Weather Day.

With breezy conditions, low humidity and a long stretch of dry weather we will also face concerns over high fire danger Saturday. Wind gusts should easily top 30 mph and could hit 40 mph for a few at times.

The warmest temperature ever recorded in the month of October for Omaha is 96° and 98° in Lincoln. If the daily temperature record is broken for either city on Saturday, there’s a chance the monthly high temperature could be broken as well.

This makes for a hot kickoff for Nebraska on Saturday. Temperatures will be in the mid 90s as the football game is getting started but should now start to cool a bit quicker during the game as a cold front dive in faster. If you’re headed out to Lincoln this weekend, make sure to plan accordingly for the heat leading up to the game though.

You can stay up to date with the 6 First Alert Forecast.
