Mallory joined the 13 First Alert Weather Team in April 2022.
Prior to moving to the Old Pueblo, Mallory worked for KOLD's Sister Stations in Omaha, Nebraska (WOWT) and Columbus, Georgia (WTVM). She was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky.
Mallory earned her Bachelor of Science in Meteorology with a minor in Broadcasting from Western Kentucky University. During her time at WKU, she spent a semester abroad in England and a summer storm chasing in the Great Plains. Post-grad, she participated in a summer program studying climate science in Iceland.
During her eight years as a broadcast meteorologist, Mallory has covered everything from blizzards to tropical storms and tornadoes to flooding. She enjoys forecasting the complexities of snow storms but is loving the mild winters here in Arizona!
In 2021, Mallory earned her Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation from the American Meteorological Society.
When she’s not forecasting the weather, Mallory enjoys exploring the great outdoors, attending concerts, and trying out local restaurants.
She lives in Tucson with her husband, Jose, and their cat, Skye.
Mostly cloudy skies are on tap today, with highs topping out in the mid 20s for most. We do have a chance for light snow around midday (10 AM to 3 PM), but this snow will have a lot of dry air to overcome before it reaches the ground.
Clouds increase throughout the day today with highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Gusty winds in the morning will relax for the afternoon and evening.

A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for most of the WOWT viewing area through 11 AM. Once the fog does lift, partly sunny skies are on tap with highs warming into the mid to upper 50s!
After starting in the teens, temperatures will warm up to near 40° this afternoon. Mostly sunny skies are on tap, with just a few high clouds possible for areas north of I-80. Conditions will become breezy by the afternoon, with southerly gusts 30-35 mph possible.
We'll see clouds gradually decrease today, with cold temperatures hanging out in the 20s. Wind chills in the teens and single digits due to gusty NNW winds. Lows drop into the teens tonight with highs back near 40° Sunday afternoon.
The primary reason for Wednesday’s First Alert Day is the very strong wind. A High Wind Warning is in effect from 9 AM to 9 PM Wednesday, with gusts 50 to 75 mph likely.
After some high clouds early, mostly sunny skies and SSW winds will push temperatures into the lower 50s this afternoon. Expect breezy conditions at times.

December 1st kicks off meteorological winter in the northern hemisphere. The start of astronomical winter this year – the winter solstice – occurs on December 21st.
After starting off in the 30s, highs will soar well into the 60s Monday afternoon under partly to mostly sunny skies. A bit breezy at times today. Slight chance for a light shower early Tuesday with highs in the mid-50s.
We’ll start the day with sunny skies before high clouds increase midday into the afternoon. High temperatures will be about 10° or so cooler than what we experienced Saturday, with Omaha topping out around 50°.

A blast of cold air is on the way for Thanksgiving in the Heartland, but we’re not looking to break any records. However, November is a month when we can experience big swings in temperatures, very gusty winds, and either rain or snow (or both!).
Typically, by this time of year, we’ve experienced our first measurable snowfall in Omaha. “Measurable” means more than a trace… In the case of snow, at least 0.1″ of accumulation.

Plentiful sunshine is in store Sunday, but temperatures will be cooler – topping out around 50°. We’ll likely hit our high during the early afternoon hours (around 1PM) before cooling. Winds from the NNW will gust around 30 mph.
Clouds cleared out briefly Saturday morning but will roll back in for the rest of the day. Highs will top out in the mid 50s. A stray shower or a few sprinkles are possible during the afternoon and evening.

Wind chill is an indicator of how temperatures actually feel to humans during the colder months, once wind speeds are taken into account. Our bodies lose heat more quickly when the wind speed is higher.
For the first time this season, Omaha dipped below-freezing Tuesday morning. Our official low temperature at the airport was a chilly 27°.
With daily highs and lows averaged, our temperature departure from normal was +3.5°. The past month was the 13th wettest October on record for Omaha, dating back to 1877.
Tuesday morning looks like the Omaha Metro's first HARD FREEZE of the season (28° or colder). Time to winterize your yard and garden!

During the winter months, the type of precipitation we see is dependent upon more than just the air temperature at the surface. We have to take into account the temperature profile of a much bigger chunk of the atmosphere.

The weather will stay quiet and warm for Friday night football, with increasing clouds overnight and lows dropping into the upper-50s and lower-60s. Despite the cloud cover Saturday, highs are still expected to heat into the 80s with southeasterly wind gusts up to 30 mph.
Winds will back off overnight, with temperatures dropping into the mid to upper-40s to near 50° in Omaha. The same abundant blue sky and sunshine returns yet again Monday, with highs back in the upper-70s.

September was warmer and slightly drier than average in Omaha. Monthly outlooks from the Climate Prediction Center forecast a warm but wetter October.
As of September 28th, there have been 19 named storms during the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season. More are brewing.
As we transition into fall, daylight hours shorten and leaves begin to change as a result. Some patchy color may start to develop on the trees this week, but we’re still a few weeks off from the most vibrant colors of fall.
