Ezra Kaplan

Ezra Kaplan is an investigative reporter for Fox 12. He comes from Chicago but fell in love with the West and swears off shoveling snow.

Though he has been a journalist for over a decade, Ezra spent two years working as a high school chemistry teacher in Northern Arizona right out of college. He still loves to sneak in a little science to his reporting.

Ezra comes to Fox 12 from NBC News where he was a producer, first based in Boston and later in Los Angeles. He was nominated for multiple Emmys and won a James Madison Freedom of Information award for reporting on the treatment of Amazon warehouse workers during the pandemic. As a producer, Ezra worked on many high-profile stories like the Facebook Papers, Bill Cosby’s trials, the college admissions cheating scandal, and presidential debates. For the last four years at NBC, he worked on the business and technology reporting team, covering some of the biggest companies in the world and reporting on technological developments from AI to cryptocurrency.

As part of the Fox 12 Investigates team, Ezra brings his unending curiosity and constitutional resistance to taking no for an answer. He has a passion for digging into public records and holding public officials accountable. But at the heart of his reporting is the people of the community. Though he has an office at the station, you’re more likely to find him out on the street talking to strangers or meeting up with a source for some craft coffee.

At home, Ezra has more hobbies than any sane person should. From gardening to video games and from cooking to trading card games, he’s always up to something new.
