Nebraska Task Force 1 deploys additional members as Hurricane Milton nears landfall

Lincoln Fire & Rescue announced that an another 29 members have been sent, as the task force was upgraded from a Type 3 team to a Type 1 team.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Additional members of Nebraska Task Force 1 are being deployed as Hurricane Milton careens toward Florida.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue announced that an another 29 members have been sent, as the task force was upgraded from a Type 3 team to a Type 1 team. Those members have joined the rest of Nebraska Task Force 1 in Georgia.

Nebraska Task Force 1 has now been reassigned to respond to Hurricane Milton, and the team is currently awaiting specific orders for support.

Hurricane Milton, which quickly evolved into a Category 5 hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico, is expected to make landfall on Florida’s western coast late Wednesday as a Category 3 hurricane.

On Monday, a different set of 20 members from the task force were sent out to North Carolina to relieve 20 members who had been deployed since Sept. 25 in response to Hurricane Helene.

Alternating members of the Nebraska Task Force 1 have been busy with various types of operations across the southeast United States in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
