Nebraska Task Force 1 deploying additional members to the southeastern U.S.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - In the midst of what’s become a chaotic hurricane season, more help is being called upon by the federal government to provide assistance to those in need across the southeastern U.S.
That help is coming in the form of additional search and rescue crews from the National Urban Search and Rescue System, which includes members of Nebraska Task Force 1.
Lincoln Fire & Rescue Public Information Officer M.J. Lierman stated that 21 additional members and one canine of the task force were deployed to North Carolina on Monday at 6 a.m.
“They will exchange and replace 20 members of the [first team] that have been on active assignments since their deployment on Sept. 25th,” Lierman said.
Notifications were initially sent out Sunday evening that two task force members would be sent to the southeast ahead of Hurricane Milton, which is forecast to become a major storm.
The current group from Nebraska Task Force 1 has been busy with various types of operations across the southeast in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
