OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A former Omaha Public Schools teacher has taken a plea deal in court after accusations that she stole from an education nonprofit.

Angela Wolfe, 42, pleaded “no contest” in court Thursday to theft by unlawful taking. A second charge of second-degree forgery was dropped as part of the plea agreement.

Wolfe was originally facing the two charges in April, both exceeding $5,000 -- which are felonies.

She will be sentenced on Nov. 13, 2024.

The Nebraska High School Press Association says that Wolfe stole around $76,000 while managing its accounts as the organization’s treasurer for six years.

An investigation found that Wolfe forged checks and used the NHSPA debit card for several unauthorized transactions, which included ATM withdrawals and purchases of groceries, food delivery, veterinary bills, online shopping, and even streaming service subscriptions.

Investigators say they also discovered a “commingling” of money between Wolfe’s personal bank account of that of the NHSPA.

Wolfe is no longer with OPS, effective Aug. 1 of this year.
