Minden man dies from injuries sustained in Friday’s tornado, family confirms
MINDEN, Iowa (WOWT) - Friday’s outbreak of tornadoes across eastern Nebraska and western Iowa has turned deadly.
A Minden man died from his injuries after being trapped in his basement during Friday’s storm. A family member told 6 News on Sunday that Nicholas Ring was taken to Nebraska Medicine in Omaha once he was freed from the rubble. He died Saturday night.
The storms flattened a portion of the town of about 600 people, located on the northern edge of Pottawattamie County. Some homes had been pulled from their foundations, torn apart from the ground. Damage was particularly expansive on the east side of Minden, were about half of homes there were severely damaged.
Three others in Minden were injured. All of them were treated and released.

According to his obituary, the 63-year-old is survived by his wife of 40 years, two sons, and several grandchildren; as well as siblings and in-laws.
Visitation is planned for Thursday evening at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Neola, with a Mass of Christian Burial planned for Friday morning at the church.
