LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Nebraska men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg will undergo a medical procedure this Friday to have his pacemaker replaced, Nebraska Athletics announced Monday.

This will be the second pacemaker replacement for Hoiberg, as he previously underwent the procedure in 2014.

The pacemaker was originally placed in 2005 when he had open-heart surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm.

Meanwhile, the Big Ten Conference released its 2024-25 men’s basketball schedule last week. The Huskers will open their 20-game slate with two challenging matchups: on the road at Michigan State on Dec. 7 and at home against Indiana on Dec. 13.

The opener at Michigan State marks the eighth time in the last nine seasons Nebraska has opened Big Ten Conference play on the road. The Big Ten home opener against Indiana marks the fourth time the two schools have met in December since 2019, but the first December matchup in Lincoln.

Start times and network designations for all Big Ten and non-conference games is expected to be announced later this month.
