OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Creighton baseball has a new head coach.

Mark Kingston was named the associate head coach for the Bluejays, and he’ll take over as the team’s frontman once long-time head coach Ed Servais retires following the 2025 season — a move Servais announced last month after 27 years with the program.

Kingston had been the head coach at South Carolina since 2018, having led the Gamecocks to a pair of NCAA Super Regionals, including a 42-win season in 2023. He was fired earlier this month after seven seasons in Columbia.

Prior to his stint at South Carolina, Kingston held head coaching positions at South Florida and Illinois State, winning at a 60 percent clip in over 800 games throughout his career in college baseball.

“We are not only excited about the upcoming season, but also the future of Creighton Baseball as Mark will assume the head coaching role for the 2026 season and beyond,” said Creighton Athletic Director Marcus Blossom in a press release Monday. “Creighton Baseball has a long history of outstanding coaches and Mark will continue their legacy of success.”

Kingston was an assistant coach on the 2001 Miami Hurricanes staff — a team that won College World Series with a dominant run through Omaha. He also made a CWS appearance as a player as a member of the 1989 North Carolina team before being drafted into Major League Baseball by the Milwaukee Brewers.
