OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Creighton women’s basketball is losing one of its most productive players.

Emma Ronsiek — a senior forward for the Bluejays who was one of the best players in the Big East and a main catalyst in the team’s rise to national prominence over the past three seasons — entered the transfer portal Tuesday.

Ronsiek’s career in the blue and white is about as decorated as they come, with two first team All-Big East nods and a team scoring title as a sophomore. She averaged double-digit points in each of her four seasons with Creighton and helped lead the Jays to the program’s first Elite 8 appearance in 2022.

Ronsiek is sixth on the all-time scoring list in Creighton women’s basketball history.

This past season, Ronsiek was the team’s second-leading scorer with 16.8 points per game. She asserted her dominance in the paint as well, averaging 5.3 rebounds and leading the Jays in blocks.

Creighton’s 2023-24 season ended last weekend in the NCAA Tournament Round of 32, where the Bluejays lost to No. 2 seed UCLA.

Flanery first saw a glimmer of something in the Bluejays’ senior class during the 2020-21 season, when they were freshmen.
