POLK COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - An Iowa Hawkeye football player is charged with Operating While Under the Influence.

Cade Borud, of Pleasant Hill, was arrested in Polk County early Saturday morning. He’s accused of driving over twice the legal limit.

According to a criminal complaint, a state trooper saw him driving over the line dividing a two-way highway.

The trooper said Borud had bloodshot, watery eyes and the odor of alcohol on him. A breath test showed Borud’s blood alcohol concentration was point .188.

The criminal complaint also says Borud admitted to having consumed alcohol before driving.

Borud plays offensive line. He’s entering his first season with Iowa.

He’s at least the second Iowa football player to be arrested for driving while intoxicated this summer.

Receiver Kaleb Brown was arrested in Iowa City for OWI and having a fake ID in June.
