Former Hawkeye All-American Carl Cain dies at 89

Cain was a part of the “Fabulous Five.” His number, 21, is retired by the Hawkeyes.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Carl Cain, who helped lead the Hawkeyes to two Final Fours in 1955 and 1956, died Sunday, according to a release from the University of Iowa.

Cain was a part of the “Fabulous Five.” His number, 21, is retired by the Hawkeyes.

Cain was on the 1956 US National Team, winning a gold medal at the Melbourne Olympics.
