David's Evening Forecast - Staying dry with summer warmth
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Full sunshine helped to quickly warm temperatures back into the upper 80s to low 90s across the area, giving us another summer-like day here for the end of September. Temperatures will remain into the 80s through the early evening, with temperatures still around 82 at 7pm. However, we should cool down after sunset as the northeast breeze begins to let up.
The clear skies, light winds, and low humidity will lead mean a very nice evening as temperatures do cool down once fairly quickly, dropping back into the 60s by 10pm and overnight lows in the lower 50s, with a few upper 40s in Iowa. Sunday will bring a nearly identical day to the area, with lots of sunshine and highs in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees.
Monday will likely be the warmest of the next few days with highs close to 90 degrees around the metro and sunny skies. The forecast through Monday remain dry, which virtually guarantees that we will end up with the driest September on record for Omaha with only 0.09″ of rain having fallen at Eppley Airfield downtown. Some areas did pick up more rain than that, but it has been a very dry month for the entire area, and that is not likely to change any time soon meaning drought conditions will only continue to worse.
A cold front will move through Monday night and briefly drop temperatures for Tuesday back closer to average, with highs in the lower 70s. However, the late summer warmth quickly returns with highs back into the mid and even upper 80s on Wednesday, lasting into the upcoming weekend. Rain chances remain very sparse, with a generally dry forecast for the next 7 to 10 days.
