Toddler hit and killed by car after sneaking out of bed
ALLEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WILX/Gray News) - A 2-year-old girl was hit and killed by a car after sneaking out of bed on Friday, according to the Michigan State Police.
The crash happened around 8:20 p.m. in Allen Township, Michigan.
Authorities said the toddler was put to bed by her parents but got out of bed and walked out of the home while her parents were working around the house.
The girl was walking out onto Chicago Street when she was hit by a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta driven by a 38-year-old man.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the toddler lying in the road, and a first responder performed life-saving measures until emergency medical services arrived. The girl was taken to the hospital where she later died.
An autopsy will be performed on the toddler.
Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash, according to police.
