Omaha traffic slowed by multiple I-80 crashes Wednesday morning

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Drivers experienced delays on I-80 after multiple crashes affected traffic throughout the Wednesday morning commute.

A major crash happened just before 9 a.m. on I-80 near 60th Street.

Drivers were advised to avoid the area, as much of westbound I-80 was blocked.

Crews reportedly had to use construction barrels that had been pulled to the side to divert traffic.

Traffic was heavily impacted for about 45 minutes.

The first crash Wednesday morning happened just after 6 a.m. on northbound I-29 near the I-80 interchange in Council Bluffs where a semi ended up on its side.

Two crashes then happened in the same area. One crash was on the ramp from westbound I-80 to northbound I-680 just before 7 a.m. The next collision happened in the center lane again at the I-80/I-680 interchange around 7:30 a.m.

Another crash happened just before 9 a.m. on westbound I-80 near 84th St.
