Omaha City Council agenda notes for Oct. 8

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Here are a few items on the agenda for Tuesday’s Omaha City Council meeting:
- No. 17: Public hearing on acquiring property near 2307 N Street to build a city-owned parking garage.
- No. 19: Public hearing on acquiring land to continue building the Omaha Beltline Trail from Decatur Street to Grant Street.
- No. 35: Vote on approving an agreement between the City, the Papio-Missouri River NRD, and the Alegent Health - Immanuel Medical Center to expand and connect the city’s trail system with a new multi-use recreational trail over a part of a now-abandoned railway.
- No. 39: Public hearing on extending the electric scooter program one more year, with the option of ten more years in Omaha and Council Bluffs.
- No. 44: Public hearing on accepting the SAFER Grant.
- No. 60: First reading on accepting a $2 million grant from the U.S. Dept. of Justice for a program that runs from October 2024 to September 2027 to expand violence intervention efforts for high-risk groups.
- No. 64: First reading on an amendment to the lease between the City and MECA regarding the Omaha Convention Center/Arena. A portion of lot A will be removed to make way for the streetcar maintenance facility.
The Omaha City Council meets at 2 p.m. most Tuesdays. They are livestreamed on the city’s website.
