23-year-old man dies in fatal Elkhorn crash

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - One person is dead and another is in the hospital after an accident Wednesday night in Elkhorn.
In an update, police said Drake Moore, 23, was driving a 2004 Jeep Compass northbound and “failed to yield the right-of-way” to an eastbound 2018 Volkswagen Atlas.
Moore was declared dead at the scene, according to police. The passenger of the Jeep, a 22-year-old woman, was sent to the hospital with serious injuries.
The crash happened at 189th St. and West Maple Road shortly after 10 p.m.
“The Volkswagen struck the Jeep on the driver’s side and the Jeep rolled onto its top into the westbound lanes," a report states.
OPD reports that the driver of the Volkswagen is not injured.
This is the 46th fatality in the Omaha-metro this year, police say.
