Rusty Runs Wild - just like the hot cheese in the Juicy Lucy

There’s more than the Lombardi Trophy up for grabs in Minneapolis this weekend.
At least the Lombardi won’t squirt hot cheese on you but taste buds have been busy sacking one Juicy Lucy after another this weekend.
Two restaurants along Cedar Avenue both say they invented the cheese-stuffed burger, including Matt’s Bar.
We’re told Matt didn’t like making the things, “because they were kind of a pain to cook. He just wanted to cook burgers all day long.”
But epiphany stopped by for a visit one day. “What happened was some people would order their burgers that way and one guy bit in and said, ‘Wow! That’s one juicy Lucy.’”
The JL is as simple as it is delicious: two quarter-pound beef patties with American Cheese stuffed in between.
A customer told us, “It’s worth coming back for.”
Another said, “We heard about this place, so, our suitcases are right there, actually.” He said, “We just got off the plane and came here.”
It does come with a warning. “Hot cheese, be gentle” a server said. “Don’t let it fly. It can really travel.”
But warnings only carry so much weight.
As one guy told us, “Anything that has cheese coming out of it, you know, I’ll go for another one.”
Scott, the owner, says Matt's has been doing the same thing for 64 years and they haven't changed a thing.
