Two Hawkeyes to enter transfer portal in December, Ferentz says
IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Senior running back Leshon Williams and junior wide receiver Kaleb Brown have left the Iowa Hawkeyes and are planning to enter the transfer portal in December, head coach Kirk Ferentz announced Monday.
Brown had announced on social media Monday morning that he is opting to use his redshirt season, and wouldn’t be playing any more games for the Hawkeyes this season. But he had not confirmed if he was planning to transfer.
“I have decided to utilize my redshirt year and will not be playing in any additional games this season,” he wrote in the post. “I wish my teammates the best of luck this season and hope for the continued success of the program.”
Brown has played in three games this season for the Hawkeyes and recorded just one catch for 18 yards.
Brown, a transfer from Ohio State, emerged last season with 22 receptions for 215 yards and a touchdown in Iowa’s final six games.
He missed the first game of this season due to a suspension for a June DUI.
After leading the team in rush attempts in 2023, running back Leshon Williams has just 11 carries for 21 yards in three games so far this season.
