OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Songs from the band Foreigner are the soundtrack to many people’s lives. Next week, the band is performing in Omaha and will be joined onstage by a local high school choir.

Skutt Catholic High School’s choir already had the chance to perform with the band. They’re making another appearance onstage with them on Monday, Aug. 26, at the CHI Health Center.

“We were selected about a year ago to sing with them when they performed in Ralston,” Choir Director Chris Storm said. “Then, on this farewell tour, they called and asked if we would join them again onstage.”

Foreigner gives choirs across the country the chance to perform “I Want to Know What Love Is” with them at their concerts through a partnership with The Grammy Foundation.

“They have millions and millions of people that love and listen to them and we get to stand right next to them,” Senior Andrew Storm said.

“I Want to Know What Love Is” is the band’s only No. 1 Hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Now, its popularity is bringing generations together.

“While Foreigner’s not a band we know, it’s a band that was really popular at a certain time and we can just have fun with it,” Senior Abigail Tayman said.

The band is also giving back to music education programs across the country like Skutt Catholic who perform with them at their concerts. Chris said the choir is getting $500 from Foreigner and The Grammy Foundation.

“This is another little bit in our bucket to fuel transportation and music and arrangements and things like that,” Chris said. “A lot of times it is the home that kids don’t necessarily find in other parts of the school. It’s a place where kids can be themselves and experience things outside of their own normal world.”

The concert kicks off on Monday at 7:00 p.m.
