Pedestrian dies after hit-and-run near downtown Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A man is dead after he was hit by a car Tuesday evening near downtown Omaha.

In an update Wednesday, police said that the man was declared dead after he was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The incident happened just after 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Abbott Drive and Riverfront Drive.

An investigation showed that the victim was walking in the right eastbound lane of Abbott Drive when he was hit by the vehicle.

According to a release, the vehicle then fled the area.

The name and age of the man has not yet been released.
