SAC CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - A rollover crash over the weekend in Northwest Iowa resulted in one fatality.

Authorities say the single-vehicle crash happened in Sac County at about 2:37 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12. According to the Sac County Sheriff’s Office, it happened near the rural intersection of Cory Avenue and 360th Street, located several miles southwest of Odebolt.

The sheriff’s office says first responders learned about the crash at about 5:30 a.m., several hours after the crash. Once at the scene authorities found a 2025 Volvo semi-tractor on its side in a field, and inside was 29-year-old Bryan Pubien of Omaha, Nebraska. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation found that Pubien was going north on Cory Avenue where he crossed 360th Street and lost control on the gravel road. The sheriff’s office says Cory Avenue turns into a gravel road after going north of the intersection.

After losing control, the semi-tractor entered a ditch and rolled several times before ending up in a picked cornfield on its passenger side. Authorities say Pubien was not wearing a seat belt and was pinned inside the cab.

Odebolt Fire Rescue had to use mechanical means to extricate Pubien. His body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office to undergo an autopsy.

GPS data was used to determine when the semi-tractor crashed.
