LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Those celebrating homecoming on campus got the chance to see some Husker History on Thursday afternoon.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Archives and Special Collections department held an open house to show off some of their newest archive additions.

Those additions included a letter from Willa Cather and a watercolor journal from a former UNL student.

There were also photos and other artifacts from Husker teams dating back more than 100 years.

Attendees could also make a commemorative button using a button press.

Melanie Griffin, the department’s chair, said a lot of what was on display are donations from a variety of collectors.

“It’s really cool to see the history of the university, and to see how the campus has grown and changed over time,” she said. “What we were really hoping to do today was just give people an opportunity to get excited by and interested in the materials, and hopefully come back and take a closer look.”

If you missed your chance to stop by, or if you’d like to come back and see more of the materials, the department said it’s open to research appointments. Just give them a call or send an email to find a time.
