NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV) - The Norfolk Police Division is warning its residents of a scam, involving both credit cards and lottery tickets.

On Wednesday, Oct. 9, the division posted about these scams on their Facebook page.

“There have been at least two instances where two males will enter a business to purchase hundreds of dollars in Nebraska Lottery scratch-off tickets. They will then attempt to use stolen credit card numbers and ask the clerk to manually enter the numbers or manually enter it themselves,” said the Norfolk Police Division.

Authorities say these individuals do not have the actual card and the numbers are stored on the person’s cell phone.

The Norfolk Police Division says many times, these credit card numbers would be denied, then the person would provide a second and sometimes a third number before the transaction is approved.

Officers say these individuals never use an actual credit card and will drive a vehicle with an out-of-state license plate or none at all.

The Norfolk Police Division urges anyone who sees this behavior to contact the Norfolk Police Division at (402)- 644-8700.
